Real people who stuck in the airport for months

Everyone has had at least one flight delay or a long connecting flight. However there are people who due to different circumstances have to stay in an airport for several months or years. They are stuck in the airport transit zone and don’t have an opportunity to go out and get some fresh air.

As the world turns in international travel. I was stuck at Nairobi International Airport, my native Kenya trying to come back to America, now my legal home, for 12 hours, and I thought that was hell. How bizarre living at the airport for months and years. Wow.

...used to see a lot of homeless people living at the Newark International Airport in New Jersey, back in the 80's...many were crippled with crutches. Broke your heart.

We were stuck at the Kathmandu airport after the earthquake in 2015, only there for about 24 hours, that was bad enough. I wouldn't want to stay more than a couple of hours usually,

Obviously there are places to sleep, fliers do it quite often. Also there are places to buy food but how long would your cash hold out and/or sooner or later you must have to pay a ccard bill or they would soon refuse to honor your charges. I would think you would need aiding and abetting from someone to live for years at even the largest of airports. Plus security would likely show you the exit door after a while. LOL

Being stuck at Gatwick airport for 2 days pales into insignificance against these people. In my case it was thick fog where I wanted to go - back home to Jersey which was my home at that time. Thankfully as I was a very frequent flyer with BA I was at least allowed to use their lounges. No matter the reason, being stuck against your will is no fun.
