I knew one of the producers that turned them down. He said "Who wants another guitar band?" He suggested his friend George Martin. He told me that he's kicked himself ever since.

I knew most of those facts. Did you know that on the Abbey Road album Paul has bare feet? It was at the Royal Command Performance that John made the comment about rattling the jewellery, not at one of their concerts.I don't think The Queen ever attended one of their concerts!!!!

I grew up to the music of the Beatles- I was their devoted fan. I once even got to see them live in Hammersmith. I confirm that the comment about rattling the jewellery was at the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium. I saw it on the TV. Their impact on the music scene was incredible - still today. They were in "competition" with the Rolling Stones. With the Beatles disbanded and two of them gone, we still have Sir Paul, but the Stones roll on!

I recommend a book titled Here There and Everywhere written by the sound engineer for the Beatles. Lots of great insight into how the songs were produced

When asked if the Beatles were that good and how long they would last Brian Epstein said ”Children of the 21st century will still be listening to the Beatles”

Annmarie Sarjantson, It was also a salute to Buddy Holly's band - The Crickets. Apelhome - A great many people still care actually. Yes, the Rolling Stones were and still are a great band but the Beatles and Stones were great pals - the Beatles gave the Stones their first hit (I want to be your Man) and you can hardly call songs like Helter Skelter, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, or While My Guitar Gently Weeps bubblegum music.
